I understand expats, because I am one.
I'm half Spanish and half Norwegian. I was raised in Oslo, Norway, then built my career in Madrid, Barcelona and now Amsterdam. I know firsthand the quiet confusion of belonging to more than one country: the sense of not being fully from anywhere.
My own partner is Polish, so I also understand what it's like to share your life with someone from a different culture, and how that can shape a relationship in ways both beautiful and challenging.
So when you talk about the loneliness of a new city, the search for community, or questions about where you belong, I'm not speaking from theory. I've lived it.
